I am finding that those wooden ones don’t last very long. I use them for chipmunks that mess us my garden. Being outside, some last a week before pulling apart. Others last months

just giving a heads up that you may want to reinforce the staples holding it together.

These are also useful as triggers for snares or security devices.

Cost/Weight to usefulness ratio is pretty high.

Think you need them or not, they don't cost much. It pays to have a half dozen of rat traps and regular Victor mousetraps stuck away. In the spring and fall, traps get scarce in the demand for them.

I've loaned out my rat traps a couple of times for squirrels in attics and such.

I seem to remember reading a few articles in survival magazines (ahh, the '90s) and their uses were as described above.

Several years ago I pulled into my drive late one very rainy night and saw what I thought was a rat run across the drive. Picked up some large traps and set them out. Caught two birds but no rat.

They're inexpensive, but they don't hold up in use long term.

A Conibear style 110 cost approx. 2x as much (in round numbers) than the good Victors (with the paddle trigger) and will do a similar job, but last far longer.
