WTF is wrong with those people? Why are some gun owners so eager to blame themselves? It happens here too after a mass shooting. Like that guy who made that video of himself cutting his AR in half. I used to think it was just virtue-signaling, and in the case of making that video it was perhaps at least a little of that. But to think that being a law abiding gun owner makes you in any way responsible for these mass shootings, is just some really ****ed up thinking.

Agreed. It is like admitting you can't have lawlessness without lawfulness, so I will stop being lawful.

You have to understand that there owning firearms is a privilege of government, not a right. Everything comes from the government in the Commonwealth countries, your check, your doctor, your dentist, your housing, your education. If daddy wants his guns back, then you give them over.

Guns are "sport" not constitutional rights. Remember this almost happened here after the GCA of 1968. Some in the NRA wanted to move the NRA to Colorado Springs and only concentrate on Olympic shooting. Harlon Carter fought a one man war against the Fudds in 1977 and re-tooled the NRA to defend freedom, not sport.

Over here the licence to own guns is called a "sport shooting licence", as opposed to a "hunting licence", there's no such thing as a "self defense licence".

In most gun ranges you are only allowed to shoot at olympic style targets, not human silhouettes or pictures.

    I still think it is.

For some reason, they've come to the conclusion that guns are bad, mkay. People change their minds, it happens, sometimes big changes. Now they want to be part of the solution as they see it. And part of that is a cathartic AR15 cutting on YouTube.

They would have to try hard if they want to be the best in the world at gun control.
Other coutries in the world are really good at it.
Look at North Korea, nobody can have guns ... guns are well controlled, and there's no gun crime (besides the folks killed by the regime but it's legal so not a crime).
A large part of their population is in labor camp and ther other part is defenseless but that's a detail ...

China, the UAE and other dictatorships are also good at keeping their citizens from owning guns.
People in ountries with no gun ownership usually can't vote either, or have political parties, it's a win win situation for the state.

No gun = no gun crime obviously (but a lot of knife crime like in China, UK etc ... once again a detail).

NZ might become a model in term of gun control but not in term of freedom.

Funny how "gun crime" statistics never seem to include people butchered by their own government. The Venn diagram of "ideal" gun control regimes and countries that have murdered their own people by the millions is a circle.

The level of truth in that post is off the charts...

Don't think it will be easy. With the wrong people in power the US government's assets could be devestating without the current rules of engagement--different rules apply to us--just saying. That being said--I will never surrender my firearms.
The world hates you and wants you dead. We have had this discussion. Use this sudden (for some of you) realization to join together to petition your government and motivate others to get off the couch.

As well, keep this in mind: the entire power of the United States military cannot disarm 17,000 poor, uneducated, barely literate guys with rifles in Afghanistan in 18 years, how will they accomplish anything against you?

“...my administration will not ratify the UN arms trade treaty," Trump at the NRA Annual meeting on stage, signing what I assume is a symbolic document, and throwing the pen into the crowd.

There's only 5 million people in NZ, another, 25 million in Australia. The sheep are easier to herd when there's so few of them. 32O+ million in the U.S., not so easy to herd. FTW. We need to open a high rise Walmart in the UN building. Quit funding the UN and collect what the rest of the world owes the U.S. for bailing them out of from 2 world wars, and their financial problems .

The post pretty much said numbers are what matter, not culture.
