Larry McDonald was the President of the John Birch Society and a U.S. Congressman from Georgia. Listen to this debate between he and CFR Member Tom Braden. It is moderated by Pat Buchanan.

Four months after this interview, Larry McDonald, along with 268 other passengers, were killed when the jumbo jet they were riding on was shot down by a Soviet assertion of their airspace. The attack was unprovoked and unprecedented.

Nearly 30 years later, world government is discussed openly, the "conspiracy" is coming true. Was it coincidence the Soviets happened to pick this particular airliner to suddenly make an example out of?

The NWO will destroy everything we know and love. It will destroy our country and anyone that doesn't believe that is naive. It is coming...

I love CT's, just the possibility of truth makes them worth viewing. I put them up there with the best Urban Legends, as these plausible keeps it burning.

Oh and BTW, get out why you can... the call is coming from with-in the house!!! ;)

Blind are the sheep that graze peacefully while the wolf approaches.

Keep your blinders on... someone that's awake and paying attention will save your butt. It's a bit condescending to belittle conspiracy theorist because you think everything is just a-okay.

I suppose I should have used the purple text. Or maybe a color that was anti-sarcastic. I really do love CT's... most are built on truth, even if they are proven false. And just like Urban Legends, the plausible nature it what makes them interesting and attractive.

The "call from in the house" was a play on words, or really better as it is, a pun. You see the "call from in the house" is from an Urban Legend, and CT's especially this one is about government control, especially this one. So the " in the house" is actually our government... ah forget it, I'm not going to explain it.

That man Tom Braden tries so desperately hard to shut the conversation down by repeating the word "conspiracy." Acting as if it had never dawned on him that people were pushing for world-wide centrally-controlled socialism. Everything McDonald said was right on.

Certainly... he nailed it almost 30 years ago. All coming true as we breathe our last portions of mostly free air.

I'm assuming you are referring to the part where his plane was shot down to be the conspiracy theory. I looked beyond that. Of course the government has NEVER silenced anyone that didn't agree with them huh?

I miss Dr. McDonald. That clip really took me back in time. Another prominent Cold Warrior, Scoop Jackson died the same day during a news conference decrying the KAL 007 shootdown by the Soviets. I always wondered if the KGB didn't have some hand in coordinating that. Those were dark days.

Great clips Rambone. Thanks for posting them.

I was 5 when all this went down so I don't remember any of it. I don't know much of anything about McDonald so this was a good history lesson for me.

Definitely sounds like he was on to something. The NWO continues to progress and it seems that the systematic approach that McDonald was discussing is dead on almost thirty years later.

The sad thing is that his words have not really been taken seriously by the masses. I can and will look this up, but for sh!ts and grins can anyone tell me if the US did anything to respond to this attack by the Russians? Sanctions? Anything?

There was a lot of diplomatic posturing, but there really wasn't a lot to do. The Soviets were still under sanctions from the Afghan invasion, and were pretty isolated internationally. The next step would have been war, but nobody wanted that. A good discussion of events is found here.

Thanks for the link CarmelHP. Short of going to war, it just seems like there should've been something done about this. I don't know what the climate was like then so I understand that I'm commenting from a place of ignorance.

It just seems to me that we end up being way too passive as a nation then and now.
