thompson center contender 16 inch barrel

I know im almost positive that a 16 inch barrel on a contender can be used with a rifle stock or pistol grip. Just checking to reashure my purchase

You are correct sir.
The Super 16" barrels can be somewhat cumbersome, but entirely serviceable.

My brother and I both have Super 16 barrels on our Contenders in .45-70 govt. This is currently legal for deer in the pistol platform.
Hopefully the rifle stock will be legal next year.

Yes im cutting my 45/70 down to 1.8 case lenght and will be hunting with it. Thanks for reashuring

If you use it as a pistol you don't need to trim the cartridges.
Just use factory ammo.

The factory "Super 16" barrels are 16.25".
I run one in .35 Rem as a deer rifle (cases trimmed).
It runs a longer G2 forend (easy mod for older version). Shooting offhand was a bit tough, so I filled the hollows of the forend with epoxy and 7.5 shot. Helped a bunch.
Read online that some folks had issues with recoil and synth forends. I bet with the hollows filled they wouldn't (rib area gave way in unsupported forends).
