    You are correct sir.
    The Super 16" barrels can be somewhat cumbersome, but entirely serviceable.

    My brother and I both have Super 16 barrels on our Contenders in .45-70 govt. This is currently legal for deer in the pistol platform.
    Hopefully the rifle stock will be legal next year.

    The factory "Super 16" barrels are 16.25".
    I run one in .35 Rem as a deer rifle (cases trimmed).
    It runs a longer G2 forend (easy mod for older version). Shooting offhand was a bit tough, so I filled the hollows of the forend with epoxy and 7.5 shot. Helped a bunch.
    Read online that some folks had issues with recoil and synth forends. I bet with the hollows filled they wouldn't (rib area gave way in unsupported forends).
