Has anyone shot a rifle like this and did they like the rifle ?

Savage makes a rifle chambered in 7.62x39? Is it new on the market. I ask, because Ruger and CZ are the only ones I found that make a rifle chambered in that caliber.

For $300-$400, can build a 7.62x39 on any standard short action Savage receiver.

223 magazine box if a newer centerfeed action, open the bolt face and massage the extractor, headspace the new barrel - go shooting.

I have barrels in stock from time to time, find a cheap used action and build it.

About 20 years ago I bought a small ring mauser, rebarreled ...I believe by Century...in 7.62 x 39, my son has it now. It is still in beautiful condition. It also came sporter stock. 2 inch groups at 100yds the first time out. On a very cold Nov. day

I have owned a couple different makes...even handloading and trying different bullet diameters I never could get acceptable, repeatable ( to me ) accuracy out of them. I bet Savage is using a standard .308 barrel on that one.

I can't say I'm in a hurry to ever shoot a Savage again, nor can I see an angle on a bolt gun in 7.62x39.

I shot this same rifle and it was very smooth and accurate
