Not beach-y, but the mountainous area of NE GA is incredibly beautiful. Get at a bit of elevation and the summer heat won't be quite *so bad*

If somehow something drastic and life-changing happens to us we may contemplate a relocation - but right now it ain't for us. Kudos to you for even contemplating it!

Stay up in the panhandle and Florida is great, albeit a tourist trap.
Then again, ALL of Florida is a tourist trap.

I lived in Pensacola for a while as a kid.
Loved it then, but we're talking circa 1974.

I haven't been back to the area since, but the weather is almost always more temperate than the southern half of the state.
In Pensacola you have the Gulf of Mexico at your back door.

This marks the first time I've ever heard someone refer to the panhandle of Florida as "great".

Personally, I wouldn't live below the 40th parallel, so I really can't say much more about those places other than, "Florida Man".

My wife and I love to vacation in the panhandle, the "forgotten coast" southwest of Tallahassee and east of Panama City Beach. Operative word: vacation. One of our favorite spots, Cape San Blas, got smacked by a hurricane but is recovering nicely. But still recovering.

Indiana is home. I love the trips to Florida, but after a few days I'm ready to get home.

Nope. No way. Home is home regardless. Our friends/family are here. Our circle of influence is here. We have people in Florida in some very nice places but we can drive/fly for the beach.

JMHO of course. Wish you luck and prosperity.

Is it still JMHO if we both share the same line of thinking in that regard or would it become JOHO?

Whenever I think about the panhandle, I only remember Top Gear's trip there.
