I was out at the 1500 yesterday, dropping off a rifle, and decided to have a look around while there. I found a guy selling 1&8 lb. jugs of Titegroup. Not knowing much about it, but remembering having read some good things, I bought 8lbs. After checking resources when I got home, I'm glad I got it. I'm finding references to what I need concerning 45 loads, ACP & Colt. I'm also seeing some strong reviews on those loads and multiple cross references. I'm surprised that it lasted that long out there. I found it early afternoonish. I'm also somewhat surprised that I didn't find mentioned here. It wasn't cheap, $250 for the 8lb. jug, but doing the math at what I figure the 45 colt will most likely be, I'm looking at close to 2.5 cents per. I haven't looked at acp rounds cost per yet, but I'm starting to wish I had bought another.

Yeah, the 8 pounder should have been about $160 at the most. It's usually $25/lb if you buy it 1 pound at a time, but a lot less in bulk.
At times like these with powder being so hard to get, it's probably better to have it than not have it, especially if you don't have any powder at all.

Yep. I figured that was a bit extreme, bit I'm down to less than 2lbs. of Unique.... Hoping this will get me through until the shortage ends. If not, this could be cheap.

Its what I've been using. It was like 38/lb at the last 1500. Guy had ramped up his prices this time. Seems other pistol powder was there though. I now have 3 lbs of it in the garage and should be good. 1 lb of TiteGroup will load about 1500-1700 rounds of .38 or .357 for me...it goes a long way as the decal says!

I hope you got lube with that purchase. Indy Gun Club had 1lb can for $16.50, 4lb jug for $65, and 8lb jug for $122 a few weeks ago.

LOL. At that price, I think he got it dry. What's wrong with 100% markup? Where is the purple, BTW?

In all seriousness, if you needed it and you now have it, $30/lb isn't ALL that bad.

At $250 per 8lbs, why didn't you just buy factory ammo?

Because Titegroup he bought will reload about 12k rounds of .357 ammo. 7000 grains per pound. .357 load is around 4-4.5 gr(from memory). The .45ACP he's reloading uses similar powder loads to .357 I believe...although I haven't started reloading .45 with it just yet so haven't committed it to memory.

    Seriously???
Say the regular price is $125 and he paid double. That $125 increase is spread over ~14,000 rounds... (assuming a 4gr load) That's less than a cent increase per round. I'd rather have 8 lbs of powder so I can shoot when I want. Powder price in a pistol isn't that big of deal.

Yea I paid 60 some dollars for 4 lbs at indiana gun club, just have to be patient.

even though you over paid.. The amount of ammo 8lbs can make .. Your still cheaper then factory. To me measuring my own loads is more important then saving the money.

Is there a secret password or handshake you have to do over there?
I live 5 minutes away from IGC and every time I go in they have nothing but shot gun reloading stuff.

Call them first thing Wednesday morning when they open. They get powder shipments frequently and I always have luck when I call on Wednesday morning when they open at 10am. I paid with my card over the phone to guarantee I got some pistol powder 2 weeks ago for some friends I shoot USPSA with.
