I've used a lacquer pen from Brownells with great results. Scribble it on, and use gun oil to remove the excess.

UPDATE:
I was going through some of my old thread and decided to update this one. Its been almost a year and 1500 rounds or so later and the nail polish is showing no signs of fading, chipping, etc.
