Just a note, you know WAY more than I do about more modern systems, but an old technique we used was to have fake camera housings put in certain places. Certain OBVIOUS places. Thieves would then avoid the cameras, usually pretty easily. But, we knew where they were going to move to avoid them, and that would put them in view of the REAL cameras.
When you give someone something they expect to see (even if it's fake) they usually look no further.
