    Hope
    I'll bite...

These are my top 3 long guns:

    1. Browning Auto 5 (I'm talking the real deal. Not the alloy receiver, "kinematic" operated version that carries the same name)
    2. Remington Model 700
    3. Colt 6920

Why? Because they work and work well.

lol, they're just giving you a hard time cuz it looks like you want to get to 50 posts to use classifieds... and that's exactly what it looks like...

but, I'll answer the ? anyways (based on my limited personal exp):

    A ruger 10/22
T/C Dimension (or Venture) in .223 or .243 - or substitute that for an AR (preferably Colt)
Any dependable pump shotgun (I have a Benelli Nova that I really like)

    Remington 700.
    Remington 870.
    Marlin rimfires.
All of these fit my needs in accuracy, dependabilty, ruggedness, and filling my freezer.

    1) AR 15 (5.56 carbine/300blk pistol)
    2) Ruger 10/22 et Mossberg 500 are tied for second
    3) M1 Garand- desperately want one, but can't see myself shelling out the coin for something to sit in my safe and not get used much. :(

    Here's my top three in no particular order;

Browning Auto-5 shotgun because it's the first successful auto loader and hey, it John Browning.
Mauser Model 1896, the Swedish Mauser. The M1898 is probably the better Paul Mauser designed action, but I'm a 6.5 guy.
Winchester Model 1873 for two reasons. One, I already got a John Browning design listed so I passed on the M1894 even though I think it's the superior gun, and secondly, I just watched Winchester '73 with Jimmy Stewart and how can I not pick the "Gun that Won the West"? ;)

HAHA well its true I am selling some items, but new to the forums as well. I like the gun convoys too, so getting the hang of it. Thanks for the replies.
Although a bit disappointed in the lack of reasoning behind people's posts. So those mod you who did reply, share some thinking behind your choices.
I like to hear reasoning, so here is my post:
    1. Remington 700, probably .308 for the versatility for hunting larger game (although I know there other calibers are available that might be more suitable for this, just my reference I guess)
    2. Remington 870, who doesn't love a pump shotgun, again reliability and versatility.
    3. Ruger 10/22- love mine, can't imagine not putting it on the list.

I'm thinking based on what I could afford and would be willing to spend on a firear

Going with guns I own here,
    Rossi wizard .223
Pros: stocky, reliable, versatile round for many applications
Cons: single shot action limits you significantly, depending on how you want to use it.
    Mossberg 500 12 ga.
Pros: tough design, tough round, tough to beat for whatever use you put it towards.
Cons: limited capacity, Ammo takes a lot of space, limited range
    Mosin Nagant 7.62x54r
Pros: reliable action, economic, big ol' bullets
Cons: 5 round capacity, heavy, loud

This is my opinion based on my experience.
