I received this in an email just a little bit ago. It's definitely worth taking the time to watch.

[FONT=&quot]Killed in action the week before, the body of Staff Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, on June 11, 2009.

The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time.

Nowadays one can be led to believe that America no longer respects honor and no longer honors sacrifice outside the military. Be it known that there are many places in this land where pe ople still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia remains one of those places. The link below is a short travelogue of that day's remarkable and painful journey.

A gentleman soldier named Whitacre was killed last year in Iraq, I belive it was, and was escorted by Indiana State Police from Muncie airport in Delaware County to a funeral home in Jay County. As the hearse and escorts entered each town along the path, that town's police turned out to escort the precession through to their jurisdiction. Many individuals and employees of businesses along the route stepped out to their curbs and either watched the passing or waved flags as the body passed them.

My wife works for the State of Indiana, and after finding out in advance what was going to happen, allowed her employees to step out near the road and pay their respects to Mr. Whitacre as he passed.

I was told later, after his burial, that the High School where the family held a viewing service was packed with several thousand people, a good percentage of which did not personally know Mr. Whitacre. They simply turned out to offer thanks for someone that offered their life for the objectives of this country.

God bless Mr. Beale (from the video) and thank you sir. Fair winds and following seas.
