TSA Related Sort of! Airports in Mexico & Canada

With all the recent news articles online and the threads going on here over TSA, the full body scan, the extended pat downs, etc. it got me wondering about traveling overseas. For example say I wanted to go to Tahiti. Can't drive there but I could drive to Canada and/or Mexico and fly out of there. So do airports in Canada and/or Mexico have this same technology? I know they don't have TSA but do they have something similar or is is the basic metal detector plus x-ray for your bags?
