I'm sure I've seen this somewhere here on INGO but I can't seem to find it.

I have a grand daughter in another state that is starting to get interested in shooting/hunting etc. Can I legally purchase a .22 rifle here in Indiana and give it to her for Christmas? Can her parents then transport it back to her home state when they leave to go home? And no it's not a neighboring state.

Can't gift or sell firearms between residents of differing states without going through an FFL...if you want to obey the law.

Indy guy covered it, cannot engage in interstate commerce of firearms without a license.

Strangely, you could buy the rifle, make a will devising it to her, and shoot yourself with it, and she would get it under the will without an FFL transfer if you died.

Funny how the law works sometimes.

(also, not joking, do not make this your plan b)
