No worries, this is some heavy geek stuff.

Basically you are using radios to show gps locations, messaging etc of everyone in your group on a google map. This can be run connected to the internet for anyone to see Google Maps APRS or just within your group by choosing a different freq. Thats it in simple terms. This video may help.

Yes, you would have to buy a $10 droid prepaid phone that has a GPS. to run this.

Ordered a few more of these for the team.

Looking now for the easiest way to set up a portable digipeater on the fly.

Sailor -- Up & working; not a digipeater close enough to hit at home, but okay when out & about. Let me know when you figure out the portable digipeater. Also, where are you finding the prepaid phones for only 10 bucks? Later, Grizhicks

Survival tech nord on youtube is the king of this. Easiest portable digitpeater is made by cross country. Check out his channel. Will be testing these tnc's over a weekend ftx in a few weeks. $10 phones was a deal at dollar general now gone unfortunately. Amazon LG realm 4.5 inch screen gps and bt $39 just never activate it.
