I was thinking about putting my "truck gun" (along with a desiccant pack) in an Uncle Mike's Pistol Rug zippered pouch. Would this be a good idea for what would amount to long-term storage? Would it do anything to harm the finish on the pistol?

It has a soft surface, so I can't understand how it would be equally harmful or more harmful than anything else the gun could contact. Unfortunately, the only gun I have kept in a similar device is stainless which doesn't offer a fair comparison.

I don't know, but I've had 2 blue steel pistols in pistol rugs for 20+ and 10+ years respectively. Always put away clean- no rust anywhere.

I'm thinking that it should be okay, especially with a desiccant pack and a wipe with a silicone cloth every couple of weeks.
