Is there anyplace in Indy (preferably southside) to pick up a clam shell type vice block for an AR15 upper receiver? The fixture I have doesn't allow me to slave the pin hole for the forward assist.

    Thanks for any help.

I'd bet there is someone on here that would loan you one if you asked.
I've got one I'd let you borrow, but I'm in Lafayette.

I would call USDS first. Before I bought my own tools, I took my gas block there, they helped me to pin the gas tube to the gas block after I broke 2 pins trying to do it myself, didn't charge me anything.

The are good people, wish they were closer, not on the other side of town.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm right in the middle of a build that I'm going to give to my son for his birthday. I have a Geissele reaction rod and a DPMS style upper receiver fixture that I've used in the past, but I guess I never had to put a forward assist in before now. I can't find a clamshell block locally, but I have a daughter on the southside. I was going to have her pick one for me somewhere if I could find one. Thanks again for the offer.

If it is a flat top upper, just turn it upside down on your bench and install the pin from the bottom...or attach the upper to the lower and use a vise block in the lower.
