A good chunk of our stimulus money went to foreign banks it turns out. Gee, why doesn't this surprise me?

FT.com / US / Economy & Fed - European banks took big slice of Fed aid

Not only that, but now we're talking about sending them some more money... money we don't have. Money we have to print which devalues our own currency, puts additional strain on our economy and has already caused Russia and China to dump the dollar as their trade currency.

    News Headlines

What we're seeing here is the end of prosperity as we know it. For the rest of our lives we're going to talk about the "good old days" where we made money in the stock market, had great retirement funds, and had a bright future.

Don't be surprised if what we're seeing here isn't the beginnings of a global currency. As things worsen you will start to see Congresscritters calling for a fix, a fix that will come in a proposal to create a single global currency and thus a global economy that we will be told we'll have better control over.

The same control we had over our own economy when our government created the housing bubble that burst taking the worlds economy down with it.

We're being lead by a bunch of idiots.

We'll be a second-rate economy by next year, to the rest of the world. We will probably do a double dip back into a recession that is worse than what we just went through. Interest payments are what is killing our country.

Pretty soon we won't be able to make those interest payments... then who is going to loan us more money?

    Answer: No one.

If China calls in our notes, we'll have to deed over California to them. Hey, do you think they'll take that deal? :D

While the situation is bad, we won't be a second rate economy. If you look at all the indicators the entire world is imploding. It's not just the US.

I agree about the interest rates. It will only get worse if our borrowing patterns don't change.

Agreed, Europe is melting down right now because they bailed just about everyone out in their backyard. Everyone is in trouble right now, except those who bought up all the "good" resources or have them, such as China. With the intertwined trade situation twixt us and China, I think they are willing to work out a deal with us on our loans, but the severity of the payment will be pretty hefty. :(

I wonder... could we throw in that Justin Beiber kid and Lady Gaga to sweeten the deal?
