Does that mean a supply glut for us?

I don't expect anyone to read the article but.........

Export licences for Ukraine and Israel, as well as some other close allies, will be exempted from the temporary halt in exports.

The pause does not affect previously issued export licenses, Commerce said.

The U.S. has stopped issuing export licenses for most civilian firearms and ammunition for 90 days for all non-governmental users…

    The pause
does not affect previously issued export licenses

My initial thought was "Great! More ammo for U.S. citizens / residents." But I'm sure the government already had it earmarked for something else. :(

Not weird at all. The diversion of small arms to Ukraine is a flood now.

FMS is a mess. This is a step before indictments. Army Times and Defense News had an article earlier this month.

I wonder how much ammo production is domestic as opposed to imports for the US.

Modern wars are heavy consumers of logistics, maybe leadership is concerned about meeting present and future commitments.

And I wonder if this has anything to do with at least one Right wing governor who shipped surplus state owned guns and ammo to Israel since the US isnt doing anything (yet)?

Cant have Republicans making Biden's admin look bad now can we?

I wonder if today's manufacturing plants can produce more or less that we produced with small arms ammunition with the plants we had in WW2.

This is what I thought when I first read it. This is to stop DeSantis.
    Political move IMO.

I hadn’t heard about this but this move would seem to be a logical political move to interfere with it.

Good question, if we are back to playing world policeman we need to do better than Barney Fife in the bullet department.;)
