    I took the blades off my tractor so I could sharpen them. I thought it was a good idea doing it this way. :D

    I do the same thing... except I have a winch in the ceiling in my shop.... I also butcher off of it ;)

    Try this next time... install a pulley in the ceiling, then run the cable over it and get even more lift.

    wouldn't hurt to check and make sure your cieling joists can handle the weight of your mower. If not, evening the load out over several joists is easy enough with a 2x4 and some screws.

    Ingo saves me a few bucks again!
    I've been jacking my lawn mower up to get to the blades... even then its a pita as you only have a few inches with the jack fully extended. I will be using the pulley idea instead of buying that ztr jack being advertised now.
