Just picked up a used Model 15 that is in good shape. It's a shooting gun, not one that was bought for its beauty.

The screw tops are in bad shape, though. It feels to the finger as if someone tried to take them out with a chain saw.

I've looked briefly on line and didn't see where I could order new screws. Any recommendations?

Or would it just be easier to take it to a local gunsmith and have him drop some in? Who would be good for that in NWI?

If the screw slots aren't in too back of shape, file/sand the raised burrs, polish and refinish with cold blueing.

Also as stated above, Numrich is a good source of unavailable parts. Be aware that some parts will be used and may need a bit of TLC themselves. I just got a screw from them for a S&W 27-2 that I couldn't find anywhere else and it needed the "file/sand the raised burrs, polish and refinish with cold blueing" treatment.

I'll have to dig up his card, but there's a guy on GB who makes screws for everything.

I called S&W for mine, the screw with the stud that holds the cylinder crane was broken. I replaced the all. I cannot find the bill but it was only a few bucks.
