Yep. I have a nephew retiring from the Corps (out in May-ish), having 20 years in... and this one is just going in at age 18 (looking to make it a career, too).
We're a big military family covering all the branches (plus Coasties!), but mostly Marines.

On the weekends they use to have the volleyball nets up.

Yep, congratulations to you and the rest of your family. Your Grand Nephew will be a better person for his military service. My Niece is currently serving in the Navy and it's the best thing she's ever done. Fortunately for her, she loves it and the Navy is taking good care of her. I always look back and wish I'd done more than just the couple years I was in the Army. I'm sure you're all very proud, as you should be!

i went to Parris Island in 2009. i had a week workshop out in San Deigo this last year and was first time i hit the west coast bases. all i can say is San Diego is small as hell and literally right next to the airport. hope hes a heavy sleeper lol
