So who is going to let me run their MPX? lol I really want to go hands on before I buy one and then try and explain myself to my wife when I walk in the door with it. I've got a really sweet custom built AK I'll let someone run in exchange, we are not socialists after all :D

Ran a stage at the USPSA Area 5 PCC match at Silver Creek (275 or so shooters)and I'm being generous when I guess that 50% of the rifles had malfunctions on our stage. That doesn't include the shooters that had trouble loading at the make ready off the clock.
To be fair most of the top shooters guns ran with no problems.

Was there a brand or platform that stood out as reliable?

Was all kind of a blur but with so many guns it was not possible to even know what was shooting when a AR platform gun was shooting. There was a High Point and some KelTec's, Scorpions, bullpup's(Kriss?).
There were some BEAUTIFUL skeletonized and Anodized guns and some that were spray painted(rattle canned) and you never knew which gun would run and which wouldn't.
I would guess 90% of the guns at the match were AR platform.

And yes the High Point worked but he had to do some reloads due to limited mag capacity.

So I had a charging handle that needed a home and I ended up with an AR9 lol. If it runs well this winter it will be replacing my cx4 for USPSA and steel challenge.

    Bobcat Armament lower
Aim surplus lpk (trigger is sick)
    Faxon bolt
    Guntec buffer
Midway/AR Stoner- stripped upper, deleted dust cover, no forward assist, barrel, muzzle break
    Nordic handguard
    B5 grip, hogue stock
Waiting on my Macon armory colt magazine adapter before I can run it. Also need to decide what optic. I am leaning towards a meprolight m21 or a trijicon tritium powered dot. I like not having to turn it on and off and not packing batteries. I'm also getting the rail for the top of the handguard so I can run irons in steel challenge. I have yhm buis for that.

Finished out the above with a Macon Colt adapter and an Aimpoint Micro (for now, I think I want something dual powered). Ran fine, for a magazine, then started having ejection issues. There are two set screws in the bottom of the adapter that MUST be thread locked with the good stuff, and I did not. It was feeding fine, just wouldn't eject every other spent casing. I tightened the set screws and noticed that the ejector could also stand to be cleaned up a little, it's just a stamped tool steel piece. I filed the stampings raised edges, canted it inward to ensure it contacts the spent casing and trued the face of the ejector with a light file job. Now it cycles perfect by hand and ejects rounds in a consistent location, when I had the problem while running every other round went either forward and out (if it ejected) or back ala 556 style ejection. I'm letting the thread locker cure out before I run it again. I polished the feed ramp and the contacting surfaces of the ejector.

I think the combination of locking the set screws with permanent aerospace rated thread locker and tidying up the ejector itself to the bolt I chose to use will fix my running issues. I hope at least.

I ran into an issue with the trigger not wanting to reset as well. It's an AIM house brand that looks very similar to a CMC... Mechanically the trigger was fine, it came with a set of guntec anti rotation pins. I noticed when I installed the pins that they were slightly longer than the lower is wide so there was a little play, I didn't realize this let the trigger assembly play in the receiver. So I took the pins out and filed them down to where they are just shorter than the receiver is wide. Reinstalled and there is no more play in the trigger assembly and it resets on a short stroke. Hope that problem is solved, if not i'll be looking for a trigger that likes the Faxon bolt.

Wow that thing looks nice. Keep us posted on how she does. I've been wanting to put one together myself. Love that lower. Didn't know Bobcat had one.

Actually ran it Saturday and it purrs like a kitten. Fast, flat, and 100 percent reliable through 300 rnds. Dialing in the ejector to the bolt carrier is key and I'm sure the solution for most ar9 problems. The trigger had two screws that needed tightened after install. Aim surplus had me running in a few minutes. Facebook messenger fixed both of my problems in minutes, I'll always support quality small businesses.

I don't shoot USPSA but have used this AR9 (lower carbine in photo) I put together in a couple of local steel challenge matches and it has ran fine in them.

New Frontier lower (roll marked Joe Bob Outfitters) and side charging upper, JP bolt and Silent Captured Spring, MBX Pro Series Lightweight Barrel (14" pinned and welded) and a Aero Precision Atlas S-One handguard modified at both ends to fit. Ammo is Federal Syntech PCC 130 gr.

Shows a Glock 24 rd mag in the photo but I use the 33 rd mags for steel challenge.

The pistol at the top runs well also.
