I think that refers to the qualification for VA treatment based on income, other insurance, and whatever priority group the Veteran is assigned to.... not sure of the context of that paragraph.... if you'll let me know where that paragraph came from, I'll see if I can figure it out....

    Re: Travel pay

I was told by the Marion VA that they will back pay for 30 days. They will pay for any appointment but I have also received some misinformation as always. This section at Marion does a very good job and is very helpful.

    THANK YOU JAY

Jay, you have worked tirelessly on this and the information you have provided is without equal. I truly wished there were some way that I could show my appreciation here, but I have no idea of how other than saying... "Thank You".

I will be following these Q&As and am more than happy I've found them.

To all of my Fellow Veterans, "Thank You" as well. Our service has cost many of us more than we had anticipated, but I don't think any of us would change it if given the choice.

    HAND SALUTE :patriot:

    Mileage Reimbursment?

What is the criteria for mileage reimbursement? Went to Indy the other day for a hearing test, will have to go back again to have a mold taken for hearing aids [most of office was at a seminar], girls had no idea whether or not I could get it or not. Have at least 4 more trips planned in very near future including an appointment for the Agent Orange registry. Stop in for a chat at the Benefits and Counseling desk and grill them? Raising gas prices are cutting into my meager budget big time, just like everyone else. Gotta luv the no knifes or guns signs at Indy, "Forgot" I had a Leatherman in my pocket, and the other thing under the seat. They really should have a lock box at the entrance. BTW, got the Newtons, will clean them up later and find a good spot on one of my shelves.

You just need to go down to the travel office

If you have an appointment sheet take it to the travel office after your appointment and they will figure out how much you have coming and give you cash. I go quite often and never had an issue from day one. Make sure you do it THAT DAY as if you apply at the next visit for a previous one they send you a check and it takes a month or more. Travel office is behind the lobby area to the right.

    Marion County Help for VETS

I recently had my vehicle go down and due to my physical limitations I can not work full time, so I do not have the financial resources to have the repairs made to my truck.

I contacted Jay and asked if he could point in the right direction and after several phone calls I ended up with a rep from an organization in Marion County called 'Homeless Initiative'. I explained what I was looking for, but he and his organization were unable to assist because I am not a Marion County citizen.

However, while describing my situation to the man who answered the phone, I did get the feeling that had I been a Vet living in that County, there may have been some help he could have provided.

So, if you're a Vet, live in Marion County and need some financial assistance for some immediate need, they may be able to help.

Here's the phone number: 317-931-3055, Name: Ken Griffin

For anyone who is wondering and or may be able to assist, I need a 3:73 Positrac rear end for a 2001 GMC Sierra Extended Cab, 4X4. One from 99-03 is supposed to work.

If anyone has one just lying around!

Thanks and I hope someone gets some help out this info.

    Doug
