Vintage Bolt Action Military Rifle Match

    June 22, 2013

    Edwardsburg Conservation Club
26524 Pine Lake Road, Edwardsburg, MI 49112
    Registration begins at 8:00 am
Competition begins at 9:00am and ends at 6pm (or whenever we are done shooting)

Come join us for a day of shooting, comparing, and celebrating our favorite vintage bolt-action service rifles. That’s right! Bolt action or straight pull service rifles only! Sporters are OK, but to keep things fair the barrel must be original and not a modern replacement. Military surplus, commercial, and handloads will all be acceptable ammo for the match. Any front/rear rests or a bipod are acceptable, as long as the shooter's shoulder is directly touching the butt of the rifle (no lead sled type rests).

We will be shooting 5-shot groups into SR-1 targets (provided) from cement benches over 15 minute time periods. You must bring your own secondary target for shooting sighters, and may shoot as many sighters as you wish during the 15 minute time period. Once 5 shots have been placed into your SR-1 target (or the 15 minutes have expired), your firing must cease. Shooters will post/take down their own targets so please bring your own stapler. Shooters will bring their target inside the rifle shack immediately after each shooting segment for scoring and recording.

There will be three classes that will all be shooting together every 30 minutes, beginning at 9am. Note there will be 3 postions at 50 yards and 3 positions at 100 yards in each shooting segment.

    o 50 yard iron sight
    o 100 yard iron sight
    o 100 yard scoped

Want to shoot at both distances - you may enter the same rifle in both 50 and 100 yard classes. Have a flyer or think you can do better - or simply want to shoot multiple times for your trouble - you can enter the same class more than once and use your best score for the competition. Have kids, wife, or friend who wants to come along and shoot your rifle - more than one person can enter the same rifle.

Cost to enter a single shooting segment will be only $5.00. This is to encourage multiple entries. Entries may be purchased at any time before 3pm, for the remainder of the competition. Bring plenty of $5 bills, as change cannot be guaranteed. We will break for lunch from 12pm to 1:30pm. Lunch and refreshments will be available, so buy this stuff and help support the club. Competition ends when we are done shooting or it gets dark.

Each of the three classes will pay 35% of entries in that class for 1st place, and 15% of entries in that class for 2nd place. Same person cannot win both 1st and 2nd place money in a class, unless it has been accomplished with two different rifles. 50% of entries will go to the sponsor, Edwardsburg Conservation Club.

Riles must arrive at the ECC grounds in cases, with the bolts removed. For safety's sake all bolts will remain removed until the rifles are on the firing line and the range officer instructs you to insert them. Bolts will be removed again when you have finished shooting your segment and will remain removed while on ECC grounds. NO EXCEPTIONS! Violators will be promptly yelled at by everyone for a first offense, and ejected from the competition for any subsequent offenses!
