I ordered VZ grips aliens for my Rock Island 1911 in 9mm. They look excellent and I'm pretty excited to go shoot the gun with them installed. The installation hit a snag - apparently I neglected to let VZ know that they were going on an RIA. I ordered the grips with the ambi-cut but apparently they have to shape the top of the grips differently to let the RIA/STI safety work.

Called VZ - they said they'd fix them if I return them.

Here are some photos - the last one shows the challenge.

Yeah.. that thought crossed my mind - I think I have 4 dremel tools in the house too.

I figure they'll do a better job of dressing up the edges than I would (I failed Art at camp).

And it's not like I'm going to have a 9mm 1911 emergency in the next few days.

Famous last words. That's what granny said before boxer boy came over. Just don't come around here with stories about how you had a chance at Sasquatch, but your gun had slippery wooden grips and the sweat and Twinkie grease and left over lotion on your hands made you miss.
