Why is Walmart so cheap on ammo?
None of the gun stores I've had the pleasure of visiting can beat them
Even when ammo is on sale

Not sure but one could speculate and say it's buying power where they buy a whole bunch more ammo than a local gun shop.
They may negotiate a price prior to making a bulk purchase too.

Because they buy so much they have it delivered in semi-trailers.

Guns stores can beat some of the prices but many choose not too or won't since they would not be making enough to keep the lights on.

If I buy by the box, I'll go to Wally World and see if they have what I want. If I am buying in bulk I go to Camby Indiana :D

I try to support the LGS as much as possible, but sometimes the price difference is such that I can't do it. Walmart dictates what they will pay to many of their providers.

Does bradis give a good discount in bulk ammo?

Comparable to online places 1000 round prices. No shipping but Indiana sales tax. Comes out a little cheaper and no one gets a copy of your drivers license or credit card info ( I do cash).

I've over heard a local shop worker talking to another employee about having to stop by wall mart to pick up ammo for the shop. I was speechless. They were charging almost double the price as wal mart.
Needless to say, I've not purchased anything from them again.

I support my local gun shop. I try to buy everything i can there. Except target ammo or rifle rounds. It is just to marked up usually. Handgun (less defensive ammo) and shotgun ammo i get at wally world and rifle ammo is bought online.

I am on a tight budget though :n00b:

I would love to give bradis my money but 15 for 9 mm blazer is too much. When I can get 9mm federal for 11
I will sat they (bradis) has some good prices on firearms

I have no qualms about buying ammo from WM despite my belief in supporting local shops. When I can save 20-40% on ammo, that leaves more $ for guns.

This is just a reflection of their buying power and vendors willing to sell to WM for basically no markup just to get their stuff on the shelves. As others have noted, WM can buy things by the truckload and split the truck at their regional warehouses, making it more cost efficient for the consumer.
