I have been using Lymans corn cob media for several years. I have tumbled 10's of k's of rounds for me and others. I have never replaced the media but I do toss a cut up dryer sheet about every other run and periodically add a lbit as the level drops a little over time. Seemed like dust was an issue the first few hundred rounds threw the tumbler. But not any more. My brass comes out clean, media looks like crap though.

The dust should be harmless in the case as long as the primer hole is open. Wipe the brass off on the outside as you load to help keep the dies clean and you will be fine with the cases.

Never hurts to ask questions. I've never thought a little dust would be an issue. I use corn cob media and a separator. I wouldn't waste the time blowing out with compressed air. Just make sure the flash hole isn't clogged.
