Previously owned an 835 Ulti-Mag a few years back, here's what I remember.
    1) Heavy gun to tote around the woods.
    2) 3-1/2" #4 turkey loads hurt.
Never shot any HD loads out of it, don't imagine it's gonna be pleasant.
    Good luck.

I have one and the barrels are overbored which is great for bird/buckshot patterns. However overbored barrels are not made for slugs, rifled or sabot. The rounds you are talking about, like the hevi shot hog wild rounds, work best when the plastic connector piece stays in place all the way to the target. The overbored barrel may not keep the plastic connector in place as well as a regular bored barrel. What choke does the manufacturer recommend?

I’ve shot 3-1/2 turkey loads through mine and you are right! The recoil is brutal. Did yours have a plastic or wooden buttstock?

    All plastic/synthetic.
Spent a weekend figuring which shells it liked best and with what choke, it had me doing some rookie grade flinching by the end of the day, lol.
Come to find out, a regular 3" in a semi-auto with the right choke kills a gobbler just as dead and my shoulder get to live another day.

Cheap Synthetic stocks are terrible for recoil, I’m planning to get a Boyd’s laminate stock for it and see if that helps. My son has been using it for trap and skeet shooting and the overbored barrel seems to be working for him.
