I'm currently in the market for a subcompact and have been thinking about features I want. Most important is no external safety, but another I was thinking would be nice is a pistol that is watertight. I'm talking one that I can have in some trunks for when I go boating and not worry if I go into the water for one reason or another and still be useable without a cleaning. I know Glocks, but any others?

I think most modern guns will be fine getting wet and still firing. A Glock isn't "watertight" but they will still work. I would personally dry it off, and re-oil it when I could after getting out of the water though.

I'd be more worried about your ammo than the gun itself. Damp primers, poor crimps letting water seep in, corrosion, etc....

The gun can take a dunking, if followed by a good cleaning.

    This!

Have any others coated your ammo with laquer to seal it?

    It works well.

Keep the powder dry and everything else should run just fine.

One time, I dropped my S&W Model 15 into a porta potty that had been used by lots of guys for like 3 days. I fished it out by using my hand and when I wiped off the brown stuff and the clinging toilet paper, it shot all 6 with no malfunctions.

    So, I vote for a Model 15 38 Special revolver.:yesway:

No matter how many times you wash that hand, that hand has been mucking around with a porta potty that was "used by lots of guys for like 3 days." You can't undo that.

Debatable, I may go get a fishing pole and a trash claw and try to grab it. Thanks for the input, I know you can get the water cups for the Glock and it can cycle underwater fine. However, I would prefer something a little slimmer which is why I asked.
