"Why do you need another pistol?" she said.

I walked her back to her closet and flipped on the light. The shelves were lined with handbags and purses in varieties of sizes, colors, and brands.

"You sure have a lot of purses in here," I said. "Why so many?"

"Well, depending on where we're going or what I'm wearing, I might need to carry a different one. Little purse for when we go out on the town, big purse for a Saturday out with the kids."

I hoisted a thumb toward the dozen or so handbags, neatly stowed in their linen covers. "But you can only carry one at a time, right?" I said.

"Yes, just one at a time" she said.

I pulled the Ruger catalog from my back pocket, opened it, and pointed to the page. "This LCP is lightweight and very concealable. It doesn't print like the Sig."

"Yeah, okay, I get it," she said.

The hats I wear are cheap. You can buy like 22 hats for 1 of the cheapests firearms you could buy. like an LCP.

And good argument, but I would never let it go farther than "It's my money, I'll spend it how I please."

Why do you have so many guns, you can only use one at a time?

How many shoes do you have, you can only wear one pair at a time?

Years ago, haven't had the conversation since!

I know this is old news now...it's a clever argument! I can only hope that my husband hasn't seen this thread - especially since I have 20+ purses!

Yeah, "+"! If I don't name an actual number, I don't have to admit to my husband when I bring another one home. :) I'm always a sucker for a new Vera Bradley or Coach!
