I would be careful to specify who you mean by "the working man" in that statement. Do you count the small business owner? The small factory owner?
The working man is the man who has to work for a living, irregardless of the size of the income. Whether they be a temp at a factory, a foreman, a plant manager, or the owner of the company, they are all offering their hard work in exchange for an income. Their incomes are dependent on the success of the companys they work for, or own, and there are many things that can cause a business to fail, resulting in the loss of their income. People being supported by the govt are not as susceptible to income loss.
