Went to Chicago and I was a little nervous

A good friend of mine moved to southern Illinois many years ago for the job opportunity his just couldn't pass up. He kept most of his guns at a place he and his brother owned in Indiana and only had his Muzzle Loaders in his house. I stayed at his house a couple of times and we would go out West on trips and he would make sure that I never let my sidearm be seen. He kept only one center fire rifle at his house and had to get a FOID card to legally keep it there. He would pull his truck out of his garage and I would pull mine in and transfer all my gear to his truck and then head out. A face to face education in Socialism it was.

Considering that my family and work in in Chicago and I drive there everyday and I keep reading about recent gang activities...what's there to be nervous about?
