Getting some time off work to reboot, getting to see family at holiday events (this time of year always makes me reminisce about the past..), and lastly more hunting :)

1 or 2 days in Dec. or Jan. of being "snowed in"; building a fire in the fireplace and just staying home and watching the snowfall blanket the fields. Once February hits though I'm over winter and ready for 70* again.

Coyote hunting and doing A LOT of shooting. I'd much rather be outside when its colder than in summer. No bugs, no dripping sweat, and barrels stay cooler. Then too our winters on this end of the state aren't near as bad as ya'lls further north.

I love the christmas holiday. Shopping at the big malls before the huge rush begins but with all of the decorating up.
Big cities and the decorations and just taking a ride (uber) or a short walk.
Listening to a couple choirs and going to see a christmas carol.

    A too-big home remodeling project. :-(

thats me! I have the front portion of my house down to exterior studs and open floor joists. Combining two bedrooms into one master suite and two bathrooms completely redone. Right now, I have demo mostly done. Taking advantage of easy access to crawlspace to take care of some things down there.

Years ago we used to take all day hikes down in the Charles Deem wilderness area. Just so quiet and peaceful to hike there.
Would like to set one up this winter.

That sounds way way way more intensive than ours.

We're mainly doing floors. But our living room is "sunken" by 1 step. That's getting raised up level. And then there's our HUGE 42 year old limestone slab fireplace. That's getting heavily modified to the point we'll have a ton more room in that part of the living room. Then there's the 2nd bathroom remodel. New vanity, repairing tile in the shower, removing bulk-heads (again, late 70's trapezoidal decorative bulkheads)... So that means we'll be disrupted for a while because we have to clear out most of the "stuff" in all the rooms for the carpet to come up and the LVP to be put in.

This is the first winter I'll be retired. I look forward to only being out in the weather/traveling because it's what I want to do. I hope to get out and experience that quiet in a heavy snowstorm where nothing is stirring and the only sound is the soft, white-noise hiss of the falling snow as it lands

I won't be retired all winter, but I am pulling the plug on January 31 and I agree completely.

I am looking forward to doing several projects in the house I have been putting off and starting several outdoors as weather permits. Also looking forward to spending more time with my grandson.

Big fire in the library fireplace. January - March (work) trips to warmer locales. My 3rd floor office is the warmest room in the house, which is good; as opposed to the summer when that's bad. Time off.

Winter I love it. I like plowing with my tractor, but so does my 14yo son, so I won't do much.

Winter is for inside protects, so I will tearing the carpet off of the stairs to the second floor, and installing oak treads and risers. (Did the stairs to the basement last year). Also, I'll probably work on finishing more of the basement.

    I love this stuff.

I've done that! In fact I have pictures hanging in my hallway from one such winter hike. It's been more than a few years...
