i always haave a gerber and a folding boxcutter. the boxcutter does most of the daily work, like cutting string/tape/cardboard, etc. the gerber i used for the occasional apple and if absolutely necessary, for self defense. i would prefer to be able to use my P11 for that though...

Whereas I have many blades that are considered weapons in any state, the only ones I carry are for tools. Got my little Buck Stockman folder and Gerber multi.

I carry a 8.5 inch fixed blade knife a friend made for me - or one I made myself. 4.5 inch blade with a scandi grind - easier to keep real sharp.

Allways at least one good folder. benchmade is current fav. RC3 Rat on my belt if im only carrying one "tactical" folder lol I love saying Tactical. But no in all seriousness If I can i like a solid fixed blade on just to save my folder for more delicate work. I love my Grayman Darfur Defender for brutal bushwacking

I switch off between a large Sebenza, an XM-18, a Gen 5 Ranger Green SNG, and a Lone Wolf Valmatic DA auto. I think all are the ideal size and if I need anything bigger I usually have a samll fixed blade close by, I also usually have a HAK as a neck knife

    .

used to carry high dollar spydrcos, benchmades, and microtechs. Anymore Ive found Kershaw and CRKT to be almost as good for a LOT less money. I can recall a time standing there with a $200 spyderco and thinking "I aint prying that hubcap off". Now I jump in and do work with a $60 blade. from my experiance Kershaw and CRKT have a very good warranty program. you send it in they fix or replace. the high dollar blades were not so efficient in their warranties. Before I catch **** for this understand a knife is a tool, and should be treated as such. if you're afraid to scratch/dull it I believe you're doing it wrong. I work as a technician my blade(s) are opened maybe 75-100 times per day. they may open a box, scrape corrosion, gaskets, release wiring tabs, cut/strip wiring, split the last roast beef sandwich on a 5 for 5. It is a tool and of course a weapon, but ive had blades I didnt want to use and got rid of them.

    remymartin has it right!!

I know guys who have very expensive knives that they don't want to scratch so they don't use them. It's a contradiction. I don't buy a pocket knife as a fashion statement to have clipped onto my pocket. If I carry a knife it's got to serve a purpose worth carrying it. I'd rather see a scratched up knife and hear the story behind it than see a new pretty knife that just opens the mail.

Carrying a Blackwater Lum today. Love this folder. Sits very deep in the pocket and is smooth as silk. Reminds me of a Sebenza, but w/ serrations and a little bigger :)

    I carry

    I carry a:

Swiss army knife: tweezers, scissors, can opener, couple of small blades, file, phillips screwdriver, toothpick, corkscrew.

Leatherman: pliers!, scissors, file, phillips screwdriver, punch awl, small knife blade.

Winchester Limited Edition 2006-fixed blade knife I bought at Walmart. It has about a six inch blade, I sharpen it up until I can dry shave my arm hair, if I break it I can buy another one for less than $20.
