What caliber for cougar?

For hiking purposes, I built a 5" Lone Wolf tactical .45 and set it up with a 24# recoil spring to shoot .45 SUPER...
It'll sling a 240 grain slug 1,350 fps generating over 750 ft lbs of energy...seems like plenty enough to me!

Obviously you've never encountered a Carmel or Zionsville cougar.

I'd think my Ruger Red Hawk, 5 1/2" ss .44 mag with 300gr hard cast lead with gas stop doing 1100fps for an energy of 800ft lb would be sufficient
