Yesterday; a handful of test cases in the 30 Herrett, to make sure I had the sizing die adjusted correctly. Today; the first few loads of RL10X under a 125gr BT. Groups will be at 50 yards, since this barrel has a 2.5X scope.

Ended up at Kempf's yesterday. Got some nickel 40S&W brass, still looking for 357Sig brass though.

Going to Indy this weekend. Gonna be off of the web for 3 days. Then, to the southern part of the state for a little R&R.

I was just at kempf's too. I'm sure I saw 357Sig there. They are in the top right basket rack on the wall against the front parking lot. That basket contains 10mm, 357Sig, and .45 I believe.

Loaded up 40 rounds of 165gr SBT GameKing bullets over a middling charge of H4895 in 30-'06 brass. Just like many centerfire cartridges, best accuracy was a grain or two under max. It's shooting under 1.5" groups at 100 yards from an 03A3 with a 2-7X Bushnell Elite 3200 scope.

Also primed another 50-odd 30 Herrett cases to do more load work with.

Yesterday morning hubby, son and myself went to the range to try out a few loads. I think our son had more fun shooting his Zombie target than he did his own loads.

I also tried my load along with a couple of my husband's, but I won't post my target. :D

Finished loading the last test batch of 100 of my new 9 minor load. 147gr Berry double struck, 3.4gr Titegroup at 1.145. Still need to get it to chrono.

Cycles great through my M&P, and should work perfect for steel matches.

The wife wanted to start USPSA this year, so this will also be a limited minor load for her until she gets the hang of it and I get her in the major PF side of things.
I had tried 180gr .40's from Berry before and I absolutely hated them. Key holing, POA was never POI, etc.. I dont know what is different with these, but they seem to be working just fine.

Yesterday I loaded 40 rounds of 240 gr 44 Mag for a full octagon Winchester 94AE....loaded 4 dummy rounds first to make sure the length overall would function thru the action of the Model 94AE.... they did. Then I loaded 144 rounds of 44 Special for my old Colt, and then started another batch of grimey brass thru the brass tumbler prior to sizing in a day or two. All in all, not a bad day.

So I have been slowly working up to find the maximum powder charge of the above components in MY G20. I do not intend to shoot the maximum all the time if even ever, I just want to know where it's at. The only reason I am sharing is to give others, with the same components, an idea of where their maximum load might end up if they should choose to try to find it.

My max load ended up at 12.0gr. The brass looked fine at 12.0, but I shot 4 rounds of 12.2 yesterday and one of them gave me a good smile. The other 3 had hints of wanting to smile, but all 4 showed the primers starting to flatten. I am confident the worst one could not have been more then 0.05 different then the rest, so I am going to play it safe and say I'm done.

Worked on test loads for 223 & 300 blackout. If the weather holds today I plan to test them out. Then it's time to go into a 1000 rnd run of each.

    New 45 Colt Mould!

I ran a group buy over on castboolits forum. The mould is a 454640.
It is a 255gr HP boolit with the large HP pins in.

    RESULTS---------------------RESULTS-------------------RESULTS!

Okay, I had mixed cases but tried to shoot them in groups over the chronograph.
Things went pretty well to be honest AND I now have THE boolit for the 45Colt, bar NONE!

    (Yeah, I'm a bit opinionated!)

These were cast a bit soft and gave me just a tad of leading but not enough to cause accuracy problems.

The firearm was my Ruger Blackhawk 45 Convertible with the 5 1/2" barrel. This thing is a tank!

Two loads: 9.2gr Surplus Unique and 19gr of 1980's Hercules 2400, both used standard Wolf Large Pistol Primers.

These loads should not be shot in anything other than a Ruger or T/C.

The Surplus Unique load turned in some impressive numbers:
    Low 1036fps
    High 1075fps
    Avg. 1047fps
    ES 35fps
    SD 12.8fps!

    The 2400 load:
    Low 1178fps
    High 1252fps
    Avg. 1220fps
    ES 73fps
    SD 24fps

Both loads had minimal smoke but the residue was pretty significant on the firearm. It wiped down and was gone quick, even after over 100 rounds.

I could hit golf ball sized rocks @ 25 yards pretty handily, which impressed me pretty well.

Then, I put this target up and gave it a go. 20 yards or so, fired with forearms supported, two handed and of course, single action!

At any rate, here is the picture of it.

All in all, this one is a keeper! Happy camper!
