I'm a huge John Moses Browning fan as much for his shotgun designs as the 1911. I have a beautiful Springfield Loaded in stainless steel and even my 5 year old son loves looking at it and chooses it as his 'favorite gun'

But, if I had to pick one it would be my Glock 21. I have the utmost respect for a quality 1911 and I love the looks of them but for my needs and uses the Glock and M&P autos are just better fits. Thankfully I DO own both (actually all 3 since I have 1991, Glocks AND M&Ps) and I just keep adding to the fold.

I carry my 1911 all day everyday and before that had a plastic gun. I will say I am in the market for a new plastic gun in 9mm because like you said they are cheaper. That does not mean I will get rid of the Kimber, I am sure that will be with me and hopefully passed down.

    To each his own.

I am not comfortable to carry 'cock and lock'

And I don't like the Glock trigger and feel in my hand

To compare a 1911 to a Glock is not fare!! After 100 years the 1911 sits atop of any handgun. History shows it is the greatest handgun. Glocks can come in second, but it can never hold the place of honor. There has never been a Gen1, 2 or 3 or what ever number next to a 1911!! John Browning got it right. And the 1911 is all AMERICAN !! Support this great country and buy an all American Colt or S&W 1911. There wasn't a Glock around to save my life in close combat will I was in Vietnam, but the 1911 put em down, and I'll always remember how good it was to have that 1911 on my side that day. Yep, I'm a die hard 1911 man, and always will be. Glock, step aside, you'll always be 2nd best.....................:rockwoot:

I like most handguns and enjoy shooting different brands and designs. I recently purchased an HK USP in .45 ACP and really enjoy the gun. That said, I own 9 1911's. Colt, Springfield and Para Ordinance. They are my absolute favorites to shoot. Personal carry is a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 special.

I prefer metal guns. The plastic bug has just not bitten me. My two favorites right now are the 1911 and CZ 75 families. Oh, forgot to mention the Hi-Power. All of those feel really good in my hand and I can usually hit something I'm aiming for when I shoot them.

Us old guys are sentimental about wood and steel. Its hard to argue with the reliability and simplicity of the Glock, but I have had a hard time keeping them because I don't love them.

Do I like 1911's, sure. Will I ever own one, no. I will not own a handgun with manual safety only. I'm not a fan of Glocks either, and will never own one. I carry either a FNP9 or a PF9. I'll only carry guns that have a decocker or are DAO.
