And this is different from a round being stripped from the mag how? The bolt and floating firing pin fly home with the same force.

If I understand your question correctly, the bolt does not fly home with the same force on a round already in the chamber vs. one stripped from the mag. Stripping the cartridge from the mag and carrying it into the chamber slows down the bolt and reduces that force compared to an unimpeded bolt slamming home.

Yea, that's true there are two factors: how much energy the slide slams against the breech face with AND how the extractor's supposed to get over the lip. Pulling a round from the mag will dissipate some energy but you can tell pretty easily if it's supposed to snap over a round in the chamber or have the round slide up underneath it: if the breech is flat, the round slides under the extractor. If there's a lip at the bottom of the breech that'd prevent the round from sliding up, then the extractor snaps over the lip. Examples:

Then say what you mean, sir.

Nowhere in your painfully abrupt post did you mention anything about 'normal operation'.

I'm fine with being questioned and having disagreement from time to time. But if you're going to call me out, you have to be prepared for a response. My reading comprehension is very good: I don't assume you know anything more or less than your written words demonstrate.

Pardon moi, Msr! I presumed you were knowledgeable about the Ar platform and it's operation, based on your posting.

Nope, don't know a thing about the AR. Maybe I should get one and try it out, although all that plastic and aluminum...I dunno.

I always treat slamming the bolt home on a chambered round with a healthy dose of paranoia. If I want that extra round in a pistol, ar, or detachable box mag bolt action, I load from the magazine, flip the safety, drop the mag and top it off again before re-seating. Or mayne I'm missing your point here? I'm not really sure what your purpose is.
