[A] timeline released by the airline shows that a representative from the contractor assigned to take care of Warsaw spoke with Coltea at least twice. Airline officials said records show that Coltea rebooked his mother on a flight leaving Saturday afternoon and that he said he would send someone to pick her up at the airport.

“We launched an investigation with our Chicago team and the vendor we utilize that provides wheelchair services at O’Hare,” American said in an emailed statement. The airline said that after a review of closed-circuit television footage it determined that: “Ms. Warsaw was dropped off in the terminal at 12:30 a.m. CT on Dec. 1, and a family member arrived at the airport to pick her up at 1:13 a.m. CT.”

According to the airline’s timeline, Warsaw was escorted to a wheelchair waiting area located on the upper level of the airport. Once there, video footage shows Warsaw twice using a walker to go outside to smoke a cigarette before being met by a woman. The woman pushes Warsaw toward the door but then stops to take a cellphone picture of Warsaw sitting in the wheelchair. The woman then walks away and returns two minutes later. The video shows she flagged down a police officer, with whom she spoke briefly. The woman then wheeled Warsaw to a waiting SUV, where a man is waiting. The group then left the airport.

Thanks to Dr. Dao, the airlines are the current punching bags of choice.

Heck, I would have volunteered to drag that guy off the plane myself.

I would absolutely love to see the American and/or O'Hare file a lawsuit for defamation! This hit major news outlets and has damaged their character.

It would be nice on occasion to see the check written the other way.

I fly Southwest, so I fly from Midway. Never had a bad experience there. TSA Precheck FTW.

Yep, my son flew SW probably 30 to 40 times from Baltimore to Indy and back there himself as a minor. I would book direct flights for him and not once did they loose him in the shuffle.
After the stewardess had seen him a dozen times, they all looked out for him. He would get bumps to rows with no one sitting there and sometimes up front to first class.

Technically the son dropped the ball except...would TSA even allow him to go back there with her? Last time I flew only ticketed pax were allowed to the gate areas.
Yes, in some cases you can go with passengers.
disabled, minors, also we were allowed to go with my niece (Army) when we met her in Chicago when she had a layover between her home in Texas and Germany where she was to be stationed.
