I have been wanting a 300 wm for a while now but haven't done a lot off research. I will be shooting 600 yards plus, and already have a 308, and a 30-06. I want something big and i don't care about recoil!

you wont be impressed with the 300 winmag. its comparable to the 30-06. the 30-06 is like a .308 magnum

ive had all three and i got rid of the 300, ammo was too much money

get a mosin if you want to go far, you'll shoot 2 counties over and the rifle is around 100 bucks and ammo is 10 bucks

well im not worried about the price of bullets, b/c i reload. i was willing to spend between 900-1000, for a rifle.

It sounds like you already know what you want. More power to you, even though the 300 Win Mag is pretty much obsolete as a long range caliber.

As for myself, I love those soft shooting 6mm's at 1000 yards.

Have fun. I'm old and don't like getting thumped. You can have the thumping.

I saw some 200 and 240gr .300 Win Mag loads at Double Tap generating between 3600 and 3800 ft/lbs :rockwoot: The most I saw for the '06 was 3120 ft/lbs using a 200gr Accubond bullet - the .308 Winchester using the same bullet kicks out 2888 ft/lbs.

All of these rounds WILL do what you want them to :D

If you're going off the shelf, stay with a Remington action, maybe even a Savage. Thread the end of the bbl and put a JP Tank Brake or a good can on it.

Savage makes a nice rifle. I have a 300 WM that is the SIG SHR-970. If I was buying one today though I'd pry get the 300 WSM. Check ballistics and if you are reloading price of ammo won't matter.

And if you want to get crazy... maybe an A.I. in .338 Lapua :rockwoot:

AR30.....or something using the 300RUM as the level 3 ammo is more powerful that the 300wm

I passed up on a winchester 70 and remington 700 in 300WM to get my .30-06 700. My reasoning is to stay away from belted magnums, eventually, you will have to use a broken shell extractor, there is no up or down loading to them, they are just balls to the wall every round.
