Ok so I got this old piece of leatherwork but I don't know what it is. It is much too thin to put even the thinnest .22 rifle in. Best I I can guess is it is a leather sword sheath used transport or a leather barrel sheath. anyway I'm thinking of cutting loose, but I have no idea of the value on something like this. So any guesses on what it is ir the worth of it? Below are images. thanks all! bob

My father had a sword in something similar to that. Some type of cerimonial sword from when he went to military school.

Edit: Might have been my Grandfathers sword. He was in some fraternal order until he died in an accident during the Korean war.

I'm inclined to agree with the antique rifle carrying case group on this one. Maybe something along the lines of a flintlock with the down swept butt stock?

    It is a sword case.
The sword and scabbard fit inside the case.
The name was likely the owner who was likely a member of the Knights Templar or the Knights of Columbus.
