For some reason here lately, wether it be not enough cash for a "new" gun or just the fact that they were made better I have been giving my guns that are Pre 1970 more love than my new guns. They just feel so much more solid than todays guns. I'm a rimfire nut also so maybe I'm just crazy. My current collection includes a

Glenfield 25 bolt action(awesome gun since it will feed shorts through the 7 shot box mag),

    My wife's grandfathers Mossberg 42b target/training rifle,

And my newest edition which will get fired today by me for the first time is a savage 66b buck horn special, which is a tube fed bolt action.
Any one else have an old rim fire addiction?

I have a Remington 511 Scoremaster that was built in 1938. It is my favorite .22. I agree with you, it seems like if you want a get a new gun today that is made as well as alot of the older stuff, its a custom built $2000 and up piece. But i think the reason for this is the way we manufacture things now. 60 years ago, for the most part, I think most of your guns were put together and fitted by a gunsmith. And they didnt use as much of the molded and cast parts then. I could be wrong, but thats how i make sense of it.

I am in love with my 1970's Marlin 30-30 lever action. Updated it to "cowboy tactical", but it is still a 40 year old gun.

Dunno, I have a lot of "old" gun - but then I'm about the same age as the dirt in my yard! Guess I'd have to go with my Garand, or M1 Carbine or German or Turkish Mauser oh, maybe my Eddystone, or Enfield - Tokorov SVT 40 - Moson's, Swiss K31, Swedish Mauser or ----

K31 is my best shooter. Always makes me feel better about my lack of natural shooting talent. ;) Although I have a several Swiss models, and they're all excellent.

    Also love Finn M39's....

For just making tons of noise and seeing how much abuse a shoulder can take, an M95 Steyr-Mannlicher is always fun, too.
