With the cold dark days of winter upon us I'm looking for new recommended magazines to read. So I'm asking everyone what their favorite "go to" magazine is.
It can be on any subject (OK with the exception of porn) So leave a name of the magazine and the website if you have it.
I'll start with my current favorite:
    "Backwoods home Magazine"
www.backwoodshome.com - You can also pay for the subscription with junk silver coins.

Was for a long time: Nat Geo, Air&Space, Road&Track, American Rifleman

These days: Outdoor Life and American Rifleman

Occasionally: Shotgun News, G&A Surplus Firearms, G&A Tactical Weapons (or something of that nature).

I need to go back & re-read some of my Glen Zediker books.

Back Woodsman, Tactical Knives, Backpacker Magazine, Indiana Fish and Game, Fish, Fur and Game.

Plus whatever else peaks my interest when I am at the news stand. I also read alot of books since most magazines I read within an hour due to all the advertising.

I am thinking about starting a thread on that topic also. Right now I have revolutionary war/start of our nation bug and am looking for good books on that subject.

George Washington's War is an excellent book for an overall study of the Revolutionary War I also recommend Paul Revere's Ride by David Fischer. It deals mostly with the pre- revolutionary events up to and including the battles of Lexington and Concord. The appendix alone is worth it detailing everything from the Revere family history, orders of battle, the weather, Reveres' other rides and more. For one of the most important and little known battles in U.S. history go with A Devil Of A Whipping The Battle Of Cowpens By Lawwlrence E Babbits. It ranks next to Saratoga as a turning point in the Revolution.

I'm an avid reader of Maximum PC, but in preparation for Spring, I've been reading a lot of wood working magazines that deal with building a workshop out in my shed.
