I recently finished my 8 in 300 blk build. Runs fine, all good and I can use the pmags that I had already. So tonight I'm putting away my toys and realize that it would be way too easy to grab a magazine loaded with the wrong caliber in a rushed or low light situation. Potentially a very bad mistake.
So here's my question for ingo:ingo:. How has anybody else handled this problem, different brand or texture mags? I currently have pmags and a few usgi loaded with 5.56. Also are there mags that work better for 300blk ,maybe hexmags or whichever?

Are you always going to be grabbing the same gun/caliber for any urgent situation? If so, maybe put all of the "other caliber" loaded mags in a box or bag and only leave out/quickly accessible the mags for your "goto" gun.

Stipple the pmags and put skateboard tape on the using mags of matching caliber. That way one caliber will have a different feel than the other, when grabbing in the dark.
