If the cost of ammo was no problem - my answer would be .45 or .40 cal.

With the currant prices I probably shoot 9mm 10 times as much as those others.:ar15:

So it's 9 mm for me.

1911 Govt in 45 with slim grips, all day long. (Or till I run out of ammo)

Although a few years back a friend of mine let me run a couple of boxes thru his Taurus Mod 44 6 inch barrel ported with factory rubber Hogue type grip, and I have to say I could get very used to that, and very poor from shooting it.

I don't think I have a single most favorite. A typical load-out for my range bag looks like this:

Medium to full size is the most comfortable for me to shoot recoil-wise. I like the 1911 and SIG 225 because the smaller frames fit my hands better. Lately I have become very fond of the Ruger SR9 because it feels a lot like my favorite, a 1911 grip.

My primary handgun use is hunting. The secondary use is informal competition like bowling pins.

Caliber doesn't decide my size choice much. I do prefer the .45 for hunting coyotes or larger, but the 9mm with good hollowpoints works well, too. For night calling I like to use Corbon in 9mm for reduced muzzle flash. Most .45 loads have little flash to begin with.

my favorite is a old H&R 22 mag. It is currently the only one of my dads firearms I own.

But after that I'd say my two current favorites are a ruger mk2 and s&w 629 with a 8 in barrel. Both for different reasons.

I have to say the P22's are a blast to shoot. Kimber Pro Carry is fun to shoot and accurate, but when it comes to just fun shooting I have to go with the P22. Plus its nice and cheap to shoot.

Had to sell my Beretta--40 Cal, Mod 96--needed the money. But it was my favorite to shoot.

I'm very happy with my XD9 SC though.

    I have a S&W 38, Mod 12 w/a big ole Hogue on it that's kinda fun too.

I've shot most calibers, but not all the different brand of firearms yet, but so far my favorite shooting handgun is my sr9. It's full size and comfortable grip. I also like the 9mm round.
