One comment talked about us having a strong central government throughout history, except the civil war.

He must not study history much.
The Federal government did not become very strong, until after WWII expanded it.

What the stimulus accomplished...pissing away about $1B we didn't have to spend and fueling leftist fantasies of accomplishment.

It accomplished the padding of the democrat campaign coffers. The green technologies sure got fat and donated a lot of it right back to the party. This is how it works in this country. You pay the people that helped get you elected. What a joke

It took all the bad debt from banks at 100% note value and transferred all losses to taxpayer while devaluing every dollar you have in your possession to the tune of 85 billion counterfeit dollars a month for the last six years. Billy Clinton set it up with NAFTA, GAT and other "FREE TRADE" agreements and the topped it off with the repeal of Glass/stiegel acts.

The recession officially ended in June 2009.
Economic growth of 1% or less per year and a continually shrinking workforce are the new normal.
