I used to carry JHP, but that was before all my firearms were lost in a freak boating accident.

JHP. I feel a JHP is much more likely to neutralize the threat quicker than FMJ. Also, I don't want to have to worry as much about over penetration that can happen with FMJ.

You forgot to include an option for "All of the above".

It depends on what gun I'm carrying and what bullet I decided to stuff in the case after I dropped the powder charge.

Thermo Nuclear solves all problems. I have not figured out how to make a device small enough though.....

What is it you trying to determine? I love a discussion as much as anybody, but the basic question you are asking seems kind of pointless.

My answer in bear country is totally different from what I carry in the city, just as an example.

JHP for me, if I have to pull the trigger I'm looking for maximum effect and I believe the JHP will do that for me.

180 JHP is what I carry in mine in daily carry mode but, at the range most FMJ. Yet ether would work since a gun true pourpouse is to stop perm. or temp. so can get the heck out of dodge.

    Speer Gold-Dots 124 grain +P jhp 9mm

    (House Gun)

    Federal HST 124 grain +P jhp 9mm

    (carry guns)

I like both rounds a lot and I feel 124 +P is just about perfect ballistically while still being EASY to shoot. 1200+ FPS in a fantastic performing modern hollow-point design.

And I ONLY buy in 50 round "LEO" boxes (available at dozens of online stores). No way I'm buying rip-off 25 round "consumer retail boxes".
