Mine looks exactly like this one! Handed down from my father from his father...cut my .22 teeth on this one. Might freshen up mine with a new scope...the original is looking pretty cloudy...

    1937 Mossy 46a ! Thank ya Uncle Clarence !

My CZ's: A 527 in .22 Hornet was the biggest surprise with factory V-Max no less, and my 455 American and 452 Trainer.

Many groundhogs have been dropped with that Hornet...

The funny thing is that I used to do lots(150+) squirrel hunting, and still do quite a bit.I would do everything possible to get my guns shooting 1/2" or preferably less at 50 yards, then kill 90% of my squirrel's at 25 yrds. or less.I've had some rifles, notably a older Marlin 39 a with a Lyman peep sight, that was not at all that accurate on paper, but it seemed like you could just shoot it in the general direction and kill a squirrel every time.I've got a terribly beat up 510 Remington, with an equally beat up Tasco 4x that I've carried coon hunting for 30+ years.Probably could'nt get 25 .00 for the whole outfit, but could sell every .22 I own and get well by with it.

My dad's model 52 Winchester, made in the thirties. I can shoot well, but the gun shoots better. Smoothest operating firearm I've ever used.

    Marlin Golden 39A....

I have had really good luck with my marlin 39a, 1980s model. My savage mark II is a close second but the extra length of the 39a has always helped me free hand shoot it. CCI mini mags are what I run.

    ^^^Same here..My 'First Gun'= '68' Marlin Golden 39A. Bought in 1968 with paper route $ for $89.95 NIB.

Would like to do that again today..HA HA..Bill.

No one has mentioned the Remington 521. I have one that was handed to me from my father. The gun was probably made in the late 1950's early 1960's. It will shoot MOA at 50 yards with the Weaver fixed 4X. I also have the factory iron micrometer rear sight but have never installed it.

Ruger 1022T. Of course with a 1022 you can modify it any way you want. Mine had the stock barrel, and I put some trigger parts in to make it better. I could consistently put several bullets in the same hole at 30 yards or so. Good accuracy farther out too, but keeping them in a single hole with a .22 is tough the farther out you go.

I second this. My 30 year old 39A w/a Leupold RF scope and CCI MiniMags is my most accurate .22.
