I think it has to be my father-in-law's Mossberg 500. Ran out and bought myself a Remington 870 as soon as I could after that.

My grandfather's Colt Ace, serial number 999, in .22lr. Pembine, WI. circa 1971? I was 5.

My fathers Mossberg model 46 b(a) bolt action 22. I was 6 years old. That rifle is responsible for love of rifles especially bolt actions. I have the rifle in my safe, and my dad is still alive at 81 though not in good health. He got that rifle when he graduated from high school in 1946.The first shotgun I shot was a Savage 22/410 over and under. Killed my first squirrel with that one.
