Two German Shepherds and an M&P 45 or Judge with Winchester pdx1 410 shells. The little lady backs me up with a 92FS and a Mossberg 590A1. I probably will never have to pull the trigger, the pups don't like strangers.

At home, its a shotgun loaded with buckshot. I also have a 1911 backing it up as with my kids movement through the house with a child may require one handed weapon. I would have no problem replacing the shotty with my AR and the 1911 with any of the .357 or 9mm guns I own.

The best gun for YOU to use for home defense? That's easy.

Which gun do YOU feel more comfortable using? Which one you feel most comfortable to defend your home, your families lives, and your life.

:+1: Everyone is different and there isn't one answer that can serve everyone. Go with what you are most confident and comfortable with.

Thanks everyone, great answers. I do notice that no one chooses to use a wheel gun, Are wheel gunners a dying breed?

I am not really a wheel gunner, I have always had autos. However, in my nightstand, I have a S&W 686 6" with crimson trace grips.

In my closet, I have a side folding mini-14 with a reflex sight loaded with 30 rounds of 55g Hornady TAP. I would have the 40g Hornady TAP but either I imagined it or they quit making it.

If S REALLY HTF I have a mosin and an AR.

(plus others but that's how I'd defend MYSELF)

I recently bought a Mossberg 88 and I keep it by my bed loaded with the Winchester PDX defense shells.

But honestly, in the heat of the moment, I'm probably going to end up grabbing my Glock because it's what I'm comfortable with. Plus I don't feel comfortable with combat loading the shotgun. So if there were multiple threats, I wouldn't feel like I had enough ammo.
